You’re in luck as this is one night of the year that offers no shortage of options! From masked balls to midnight hikes there is something for everyone. Party Wise Warriors

  1. Stay Ahead of the Game

It’s best to do what you can before the big night arrives such that you are relaxed and ready to go with the flow. Here are some things to check off the list as early as possible!

Accommodation – If you are going out, now is the time to arrange where you will be staying after the festivities. Organize with your friends whose house is most suitable. If you are looking to treat yourself – hotels & guesthouses fill up fast for this holiday so, make reservations as soon as possible.

  1. Get your Tech in order

The night of, before you set off make sure you’re all set with a fully charged Smartphone battery.

Power Backup

Be sure to pack your charger, an adaptor & possibly a portable powerbank too. New Years can get crazy, so it is best to have access to communication to call for / sort aid if need be.

Double-check your airtime and Data

Upload some extra data and airtime to eliminate any risk that you might run out. You don’t want to be stranded without a way to contact your friends, call your ride, or safely check-in!

  1. Think Ahead

Bringing in a New Year sometimes takes all night! To start the new day right – think ahead about what you might need.

Pack yourself a ‘freshen up’ kit

This can include a range of things. Things to consider might be a set of clothes or comfy shoes at your friend’s place, a travel toothbrush/toothpaste set, snacks or a sandwich & a full water-bottle.

  1. Be Smart, Safety Wise!

Prepare your Navigation Essentials

How are you going to get around this New Year’s Eve? Figuring out transport is a major part of mitigating risk! Do you have a designated driver who can be depended on? Are there any volunteers for that role?

  • If yes, consider downloading the App WAZE – to navigate around dense traffic and find quicker routes around traffic.
  • If no, download Uber, an app that will help you get a ride.

Wing-it with Pals

Fact: there is safety in numbers. Consider having a wing-woman or wing-man for the festivities. If you are keen to fly solo at least let a few close friends or family members know what your plans are and when to hear from you by.

It might be worth your while to download the safety app ICE. ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. This App ensures that emergency contacts, allergies, or special medical conditions are easy-to-access in case of emergency.

Tip: Depending on how you feel about privacy online the Life 360App might also be worth a look.

Drink Responsibly

Adult beverages are nice but dehydration, alcohol poisoning, or a ‘roofie’ will certainly spoil the night. Stay hydrated, keep an eye on your drink and never leave it unattended, and don’t accept drinks from strangers. It’s that simple.

Store your Stuff Safely

Depending on your destination consider not wearing all your family heirloom jewelry out. Pack lightly and be smart about how you keep track of and where you store your stuff when you’re out and about.

  1. Be Present

Leave your expectations behind and content yourself with savoring the moment. Let go of any pressures to be the life of the party and simply be yourself. You know you best and have the power to choose that which will be nourishing experiences.

Enjoy New Year’s Eve safely and responsibility! Remember there is whole New Year ahead. Don’t start the year off with the mayhem of drama from poor decisions. Go out and have fun, rock the party, be your own boss, & start the New Year on the right foot!
